Why backpacking in the High Sierra during bear mating season. I kept
noticing claw marks on the trees I came upon one it must have been 15 feet high and
two feet wide. I dropped my backpack to get a picture of the big bear's claw
marks. I put my pack back and shortly my nostrils picked up a real strong
urine smell. I then again remove my pack and the bottom was socking wet from
this big stinking bear urine. Realizing I'm stuck here with this terrible smell
from dropping my pack down at the clawed tree I kept going.
After a while I got that terrible feeling something is following me. I kept
turning around and Lord behold there was a big female bear who picked up the
sense of the big male bear urine on my pack. I realized the potential problems
that may come forth. In no way in hell was this bear cute and diffidently
not my type. I once read that a bear has problems running down hill and I came
to a trail junction leading to a parking lot about three miles down. I made
my turn and started to pick up speed, I also remember the saying don't look
back it may be gaining.
I'm pretty dam big and I often wonder was it possible this is how big foot
came about.
