[pct-l] Water tricks, etc.

I think someone has mentioned it recently on another topic but lemon drops help me when I am out of water or food. I carry them all the time when hiking here in Peru. I remember some kind of lemon drops from when I was a kid, they had kind of a rough sugary coating on the outside. Does anyone know which ones I mean? Are they still available?

Someone from Mississippi also gave me some "candy" or something that had a liquid in it that was supposed to help quench thirst. I think it was green or blue. I thought I still had one left but can't find it. It didn't really help me much, the lemon drops seemed to work better but your milage might vary.

We were discussing Platypus water bladders recently on the PCT 2006 list and their tendency to leak after time. I often use my Platypus drinking tube on a regular 2 liter soda bottle here. However I recently found an Arrowhead bottle that I had brought from the States and it doesn't work on that, as it is just a hair smaller and you can not tighten it completely, it jumps the threads. Water bottles and soda bottles are the same here. Will someone who uses the Platypus hose please check and see if it works OK on US soda bottles (or other brand water bottles) for me? I would really appreciate it, thanks.
