The metric system is great for most things..but it sucks in cooking...take a
cake recipe for example:
1 cup pecans, chopped
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour or unbleached flour, Pillsbury in their
honor
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 large egg whites
2 ounces semisweet chocolate, grated
here it is in metric..:
236.59 ml pecans, chopped
532.33 ml all-purpose flour or unbleached flour, Pillsbury in
their honor
354.89 ml sugar
19.72 ml baking powder
2.46 ml salt
157.81 ml shortening
295.74 ml milk
4.93 ml vanilla
4.00 large egg whites
56.70 g semisweet chocolate, grated
