Real good and very useful question.
First find the best place to sit, the least rocky ground, sometimet right
on the trail itself.
Then a Plastic Bag that's part of my base gear
While camped I add my sleeping pad folded for more cushion
and maybe my 6 oz, bivy sack with a waterproof bottom
My sleeping bag in the bivy adds padding and wraps around my legs for more
warmth.
More clothes, more padding
More? A tarp blocks the wind and rain.
On rare Occasions I use my pack
But to answer
simply.................................................................A
plastic bag
