One of Pete Fish's "Trail Gorillas" named Dottie (a woman north of 70 who gets out there and does trail work), was kind enough to donate her copy of this book to the library at Hiker Heaven.

in the 1970's by National Geographic.  Not too sure it "contributed

It is ironic that you ask.  I am preparing an article for the PCTA 
Communicator on my "PCT Library" that I consider to be fairly comprehensive.
Yet, I 
still find many books that I haven't seen or read.  I'm picky about my
library, 
selecting only those that I consider to have contributed something
significant 
to the history, description, features, personality and even spirituality.
