 John Muir enter Sierras June 3, 1869 for his thru-hike with sheep for 25-30.00 per month at age 31.. Muir Hut  cost about 5,800.00 to  build and was finished in 1930 . 51 % of cost went to packers. 23 % to stone mason. 1953  tons of DDT were spray to kill leaf miners. Chicken eggs  were used to test kill power .. ( Not good)  1893 sheep ban from Sierras,, ( still many feed there) 1917 , band lifted to raise sheep for troops in wwI..
