[pct-l] VW Bus verses Subaru Outback

Yes, as a Subaru Outback owner (and convert) myself, I can attest to it's many fine qualities.  However, be warned, the Outback has been publicly and nationally recognized as the No. 1 Car of Choice of Lesbians.  It's been announced in the papers, on the Tonight Show, and all sorts of radio programs (like Car Talk). 

This may be easy for you guys out there to overcome, but now I feel compelled to wear lipstick and earrings when I'm toting my mountainbike off to the nearest (non-PCT!) road/trail head.  Flies and gnats get stuck in the lipstick, and the earrings get lost.  On the ride home, I'm dirty, sweaty, smelly, have flies in my teeth and one earring.  That, and the fact that I passionately despise shopping at any mall, I think I've somehow unintentionally contributed to the reputation of the Outback as a lesbian car.  Mea culpa.

I don't mind it much, but the guys I work with just won't let this one go.  I have been teased without mercy because of my car (and maybe because I can kick their sorry golfin' behinds on a mountainbike).  Can't wait untill I shave my head next year for my JMT hike.

 OK, for 40 points , which is the all time outdoor person rig ,, VW Van or Sub outback.. These days 80 percent of all trail heads look like a Subi dealerships..   It is true, we are what we drive. Nothing says more about you that your car,, or truck.. Harley Riders ride loud bikes because they are for the most part loud roudy people. Folks that drive Hybrids are mellow eco-minded. A short box Chevy with a 8 inch lift kit usually is the ride of a 5 foot 6 inch redneck cowboy.. Subaru Outback drives fit a certain mold as well as they usually are quite outdoorsy.. So having a C- in Phyc. 101 does really add meaning and usefulness to a persons life after age 20......Subarus  are great!!
