Shortly after I got back from 2 months on the trail, my husband and I were walking to the corner store. A man was sitting on his front porch. I said "Hi" and a few others words to him. My husband said "Gee, you're friendly". So why hike? To brush off that layer of cynicism and negativity that builds up. Hiking fights unsightly tater too.
