[pct-l] Sierra Snow

Ouch! Upper Tyndall Creek snow survey site has only melted 0.2 inches in the
last two weeks! The meltoff has not even begun at higher elevations, meaning
the passes will likely be bound in snow and ice until late in the typical
Sierra PCT NoBo hiking season.

If your Plan A is planning to continue hiking north and wait out the snow in
the Sierra, then you are going to have to really hustle once you are past the
snow in order to make Canada before the snow and rain start coming hard.

Suggested Plan B: Buy some racing snow shoes (lightweight) and go ahead and
enter the Sierra anyway with the snow conditions. A bit of cold white stuff
wont hurt you when the temperatures are 70 degrees. Be wary of the stream, or
make that river, crossings though! And don't count on big mileage days.

YMMY, IMHO,
