Hi Ben,
Thanks for the Fuller Ridge update. I have been
debating carrying an ice axe myself instead of just a
single REI telescopic cane (left over from broken leg
a few years back). I will be there in about 10 - 12
days. As I recall, you are an experienced mountaineer
(as I am) so I trust your words more than others.
This is my first backpacking trip on the PCT since I
hiked Mexico to Canada 30 years ago. In fact, I met
you just north of Yosemite in 1975, or at least, I met
a thru-hiker named Ben who had started with a partner
in 1973 and had foot problems so had to finish the
next year. There were 8 or so of us together on a
gorgeous sunny day when we stopped to chat with you
not far from Dardanelles (?).
Anyway, I need the updates to the current Southern
California guidebook but cannot find them on the
Wilderness Press website. Would you please point me
in the right direction. Thanks!!
Alan
