[pct-l] Attention Thrulys - passports to re-enter the US

On AOL news, fresh this afternoon, is an announcement that all US Citizens
will be required to have a Passport to return to the US. This will be "phased
in" totally by 1 Jan 08, beginning with returnees from the Caribbean, then
Mexico and Canada.
    Those of you flop-flipping to Canada won't be starting for a month or
more; the process can take 1-2 months, as I recall. I'd get started
immediately! There will be a rush of people getting passports, starting today. You
probably won't need it this hike season, but I wouldn't  trust the Feds at all;
they'll do everything they can, as fast as they can, to become more
Gestapo-like. I'm a Sectional, but I'll be starting the Passport process on return from -
God willing and the snow melts like hell - from Tuolumne Meadows, even
though I won't get to Canada until '07.
