[pct-l] google maps

Google rocks!

I was planning on including a hyperlink to my current trail position with
each posting to trailjournals.

There are a ton of free services to do this (terraserver, topozone).

And now there is another, google maps.

It's interface design and ability to 'drag' the maps blows the others out of
the water.

Google maps now has color satellite imagery. Some wilderness areas
don't have full resolution, such as the Mount Whitney area, but do a
search for "2550 lake morena drive 91906" and click the satellite link
at the top right. You can zoom in all the way and you can see a trail.
I don't know what trail it is since I don't have a map with me but
it's still a pretty neat feature.
