Just a short comment about the price of gas. I think there should be an extra large "thank you" and maybe even an offer of cash to anyone offering to help out hikers with transportation.
I do not know about the rest of the world but here in extreme northern CA we are at $2.67/gal with even higher prices expected. Deems and I live in the same county but he's in a rather remote area so he might chime in with even higher "local" prices.
So, just bare in mind that if you are a recipient of an offer of transportation, it is a more costly offer this year than in past.

Hi there fellow hiker enthusiasts!
I had originally planned a Northbound thru-hike for this year.... I have all my gear (12 pound base weight!!!!), put all my belongings in storage... and have been waiting for the doctor to say I'm ready to carry a pack. It may not happen this year. (slow recovery from shoulder surgery)
So, here's the deal..... I'm offering a ride from Seattle to Manning for Southbounders or flip-floppers.... I have the capacity to carry 4-6 seat belted passengers in my vehicle.
If folks could group together their departures from Seattle, it would be really cool.
Right now, I have a trip leaving Seattle on June 2, and one leaving around June 15. If I'm really lucky, I may be able to join the Southbounders on June 15th, if the shoulder won't let me, I would be happy to continue to support hikers in any way possible in Washington this year.
I will be at the trail fest this weekend (at least on Saturday -- I may just drive down for the day) If you want to talk about the ride thing, I should be easy to find (girl with a sling on a slightly broken wing) (smiles)
I am really happy to try and earn some trail karma in advance.
Terri
