It's all very simple.  All you have to do is get stuck in some job and  slave 
away at it until you're an old man.  When you retire, you may... just  
possibly, with a little luck, be able to get away for three or four months...  maybe.
 
My advice to would-be thruhikers... Do whatever it takes.  In keeping  with 
this day... "take no thought for the morrow."  Screw the job... and  the 
responsibilities.  In the long run, you won't regret it...
