[pct-l] Trimming a Z-rest



its not the method of trimming that does it, its the method of 
folding.  here's a page that talks about it:
http://www.backpacking.net/makegear/jeff-pack/  (near the bottom).  I 
don't use the little trick that he uses to hold the z-rest together, 
just fold it and throw it in there.  all the crap jammed in the pack 
holds it in place nicely.
