[pct-l] What's your trail name? Is there a story behind it?

Good morning, Cookie,

My trail name actually came from a 40 year-old movie, the lead character of
which has a last name pronounced the same as mine. His is spelled
differently, but is pronounced the same. Legend has it that the old-western
gunfighters had a grim, steely-eyed stare, so in the movie the dime-novels
of the time called this character "steel-eyed Kid Chelin" (my spelling not
his). Friends and associates at the time picked up on that, and thus
evolved a name. Even 40 years ago the name "Kid" did not seem appropriate,
so it became "Steel-Eye".

My skill at trail cooking is considerably more plebeian than yours. In fact
I think more in terms of "on-loading fuel" than "dining".

Steel-Eye

names. I wanted to hear what your name was, and if there was a story behind
it.
