Elizabeth,
My husband and I are section hikers and started using the silk liners last
year in our down bags. We also use the polypros. I sleep cold and find that
not only does the liner keep the bag clean, but also adds another layer of
warmth. As a side note, eleven days out on our So. Cal hike last year, one
of the carbon poles on our tent snapped in the cold so the remainder of the
hike we slept a couple of times at high elevations in the snow with no tent.
We were very happy to have the extra layer! If you tend to get cold, I would
recommend the liner.
