On behalf of thru-hikers let me say Thanks!
Posting your name address, phone number and directions to your place
from town and letting people know how many hikers you could handle at
once and what dates you would be willing to accept hikers would be a
great start!
Since you are close you should really consider going to the kickoff
and spreading the word and meeting hikers. It is a great weekend party
- http://siechert.org/adz/
A website with what you are offering (facilities, number of hikers you
could handle) and a map to your place would move you into the upper
strata of Trail Angels.
And, if you had a bus or large van with full time massage therapists
on board who also server hot food and cold drinks to hikers to/from
trail, town and your house and you would start to give Jeff and Donna
a run for their money. ;)
Anything you can do for hikers is sure to be very appreciated - so
don't think you have to do big things. We don't need much and small
kindnesses are amazing gifts when you are on the trail.
