Haha...  I see a lot of women use *that* excuse.  By nature, a women's torso 
tend to be shorter than a man's, therefore their legs longer for their 
respective height.  It's my guess the average height man and the average woman have 
nearly the same length leg.  

Perhaps, it's not normally part of their make-up to hike fast and tend to 
take their time.

That's said, I'm also inclined to believe for the most part, pound for pound, 
women make better hikers.
