[pct-l] Sierra Deigns ultra light year (tent)?

The Ultra Lightyear I have was shipped with aluminum poles at 232.6 grams.
sorry I rounded down :(

Maybe they had problems with the Eastons or I bought mine before they
switched over. That's more than an ounce difference. Are you using the
original stakes?

I used mine in 2000 and loved it. Will have it or my Atko with me this
year. Most people may be using tarps, but I love my home away from home.
Wish they made the rain fly in a mellower color.

As I remember, the lightyear came with the DAC aluminum poles and the ultra
lightyear came with the Easton carbon fiber composite poles.
Here are the weights

DAC= 242 g
Easton= 191 g

I have the Ultra lightyear and I have managed to trim it down to under 2.5
lbs. I bought a set of fibraplex poles ($75) for it as my original Easton
poles delaminated after a few months of use. The fibraplex poles are really
sweet. They weigh in at 151 grams and are guaranteed for life. I broke one
on the trail by stepping on it and Fibraplex rushed me a new one to Kennedy
meadows "no questions asked". Had it within a few days.

Here is their website.

I also cut off all of the plastic buckles that are used to attach the
rainfly to the tent. I used small diameter bungee cord and plastic hooks
instead. I also had a sil-nylon stuff sack made for it.

I loved the tent on the hike. Very warm in the Sierras and absolutely no
condensation.

Future mods include a sil-nylon rainfly with a larger vestibule area...
