I've never made a pack.
I have no experience with a G-4.  I've seen it and I think it's amazing. 
They do custom work.

I just ordered the G-5 with a lot of custom work on it.  Heavier material,
different pockets placed differently and a few other things.
I put full gear, four days food and 16 miles of water(total 20 pounds) in a
demo and tried it on.  Comfortable fit and no sag at all with the weight. 
Having their sleeping pad as the back padding also made a difference.
I'm set.
