[pct-l] Birth Control: a similar study
Well, finally! Thank you, Amy and Carolyn, for the only two mature answers (that I saw) to the original poster's question. Hope she's still around. Out of all that junk email, which made me feel like I was back in high school or at summer camp with a bunch of pimply boys just sprouting body hair, two people had the decency to actually respond. I have a sense of humor, but geez, folks. Give the girl a break.
I also was just about to say that sometimes women take birth control for medical reasons that have nothing whatsover to do with sex. And sometimes people have been taking it for so long, it may feel like they should continue to do so during a thru-hike.
To the original poster...
I'd been taking the pill for many years before my A.T. thru-hike, but decided to take a break from it for the six months I was on the trail. I didn't want the hassle of all those maildrops, nor did I want to carry several packs at a stretch. And I felt like I was giving my body a break. Then again, I didn't have a medical reason for taking it, and I wasn't hiking with my husband, so I had no need for it. If you do give it up during the hike, just be sure to take it for a month once you go back on it, before relying on it.
