[pct-l] passports and Canada
>
>
We drove into Canada this summer. We had passports. It took about an
hour to drive thru the checkpoint into Alberta. We were asked to leave
our car and go to an office, where we were grilled with questions about
our intentions in Canada, then sat waiting for them to decide whether or
not they would let us in. We were driving our homebuilt van converted
into RV, and I look like an old hippie. So maybe they wanted to make
sure we didn't have a van full of contraband. They didn't search the
van but I am pretty sure they did a criminal background check.
Driving back into the USA was no problem. Five minutes chat with the
border guard at the peace park near Vancouver, never left the car.
That's all I can tell you.
I like having a passport. It oozes with travel possibilities.
