[pct-l] Real Bear Trouble in '04 -- Attacks and Raids

Stayed at Little Jimmy campground in 04 with ert man birdnut and a
sectionhiker.There were notes left by some others about bear activity so a
few others weathercarrot keyoty tooobtuse left and hiked a few miles futher.
Birdnut came in about dusk and saw a bear in the campground already I guess
it ran when it saw him. Ertman and I had hung our bags I think birdnut hung
his also, Ertman offered the sectionhiker to hang his with ours but he
decided leave his food in his pack and use it for a pillow. About midnite
the bear ripped his pack out from under him and took off  into the woods
with it. He chased it caught it and confronted the bear who at that point
decided that it was now his pack and became aggressive towards him. The
hiker backed off and returned to the campground packless and waited untill
morning, then he went back to where he had last seen the bear and found his
pack. His food was gone and his pack was pretty tore up but at least he got
his car keys and a few other items back. We gave him a few candybars etc. to
help him get out of the woods. I didnt find out about it till morning, slept
right through it.
