PAPILLION, Nebraska (AP) -- A young couple lost in rural 
Nebraska died in a snowstorm after calling 911 at least five 
times from a cell phone.

Police have been investigating why Michael Wamsley and 
Janella Hornickel were out on rural roads southwest of Omaha 
in the middle of heavy snow on January 5.

Police planned Friday to discuss the search for the couple, 
and release copies of the 911 tapes and the autopsy and 
toxicology reports.

On the evening before they died, Wamsley and Hornickel were 
stopped by police for traffic violations about 100 miles 
west of Omaha. The couple said they were lost and the 
officer pointed them in the right direction.

Authorities say the couple made several calls but the 
transmissions bounced off different cellular telephone 
towers and their position couldn't be located.
