When I was on the AT in 1985, I met a hiker named Red Man.  He was wearing a tie, but no shirt!  It was quite the fashion statement. He was quite a character and we spent a lot of time laughing on the way to Maine.  Now, to  "tie" this to the PCT, Red Man is mentioned in Cindy Ross' book "Journey on the Crest".
