[pct-l] Music on the trail

the swede who rode his bike from scandinavia to Everest and climbed it with
no oxygen and with only the food he brought with him (almost, he finally
summited on a 2nd attempt after finally breaking down and yogi'ing some food
from another base camp) carried a walkman with him, but only used it in the
crux of a dangerous situation to calm him down when the going was getting
real tough. No matter how wonderful the vistas or sweet the sounds, a
humanoid used to civilization will eventually long for and appreciate the
familiar sounds a radio can provide.

Speaking of Tom Reynolds, if you're camped near him with a radio that is
audible, beware, your shoes may turn up missing.
