[pct-l] Great plains questions

Andy Skurka is currently hiking a Sea-to-Sea route that has him crossing the midwest and great plains in winter time on the North Country "Trail". See www.andrewskurka.com

He's made it from Gaspe to Michigan so far.

> Is there some east to west hiking route via the great planes that wouldn't be terribly boring? (Maybe something like paralleling the Missouri river). Is there some bike route (perhaps the American Discovery Trail) that will promise me groves of trees every night so I"ll be able to hammock?
