Hello Judy,
Gosh, if you want to go to the Kick off then just GO.  I have been twice and
loved every minute of it. The first time as a section hiker from Campo North
and the second time because my daughter wanted to see just what this Kickoff
was all about.  So there were three of us that year, my daughter flew back
to Idaho from San Diego, thanks to great trail Angels who took her to the
airport, and my friend and I drove up and hiked into the Grand Canyon.

Section hikers and others (not thru hikers) contribute a donation and this
helps towards the expense of putting on the event.  Now this Kick off has
grown (I think to more than what the class of l977 thought it would be) and
now they just take over and reserve the entire campground at Lake Morena.

I wouldn't miss it for the world and it is just fun to put faces on the
names you have seen over the years.  Do not let the Section hikers and thru
hiker posts that we have been reading about lately deter you.  Just GO and
be proud of what you have accomplished and do not give a fig about the
posts, everyone is getting anzy about the snow and weather and have nothing
else to do but write about something ( me included ).
