Sly mentioned calling ahead to a post office to check their hours.  I just
realized that the phone number of the post offices is always listed as
1-800-ask-usps. If you want the real phone number of the local post office
go to MapQuest. Enter the town or zip code and get the local map. Then at
the bottom click on Post Offices. Up comes a list of local postoffices with
street addresses and real phone numbers.
