[BULK] - Re: [pct-l] lightwight water purification on the PCT
That's certainly possible. My guess is that people drink bad water before
the Sierra and just end up getting sick around then. There is the whole pink
snow thing in the Sierra but that won't give you Giardia.
I was sick from the Anderson's (just past the Saufly's) till Red's Meadows.
That really sucked but I didn't take the pills until Red's Meadow because I
didn't think it was Giardia. Now I know my symptoms so I won't have that
problem again. The second time I got sick was when I returned to Boulder.
My guess it that I picked it up somewhere in the last couple weeks of
Washington. I ran out of Aqua Mira so I wasn't treating anything. Plus it
was raining a lot which is bad for the water because all the runoff washes
stuff into the water. This time I knew what it was right away, took the
pills, and it got better. Most other people weren't treating in the end
either so I guess my stomach is just sensitive to that sort of thing.
