I second Mouse's response.  If you go to a doctor and tell them what you're 
doing, they'll definately prescribe you Flagyl.  Then just carry something 
light, like Aqua Mira, Iodine tabs, whatever.  Treat when you want, drink 
when you want, and if you get sick, just take the pills.  Flagyl kicks in 
pretty quick. You may have a rough couple of days where you need to hike 
with your pants off, but after that you'll be OK.
