[pct-l] affording a thru-hike

Note that if you have an MA, you can teach at a community college. Unless you really want to do research (in which case you'll spend your summers doing it so that you can get tenure), teaching at a university (with the need for a PhD) doesn't make much sense. I made the switch and am very happy that I did so, although I am still glad I got a PhD first.
