[pct-l] Re: Monument 78 Question

I've got some 1:50000 and 1:250,000 scale maps of some of the areas north of
the border and can confirm the following:
Monument 1 is South of Vancouver, BC on the west side of the peninsula west
of Boundary Bay overlooking the Strait of Georgia. Heading east the
monuments seem to be about a mile apart until monument 40. East of #40 there
is more mountainous terrain and the monuments are not placed at regular
intervals. For instance Monument 77 is about 2.5 miles west of monument 78
and monument 79 is about 2 miles east of #78. Monuments 85 and 86 are only
about 0.3 miles apart.
Monuments seemed to be usually placed on mountain ridges or in valley
bottoms.
The monument on the west side of Wateron Lake is #276.
