[pct-l] knee pain

I'd like to announce an alternative to weight lifting
and calisthenics that I've come across over ten years
ago:

I graduated from college with an associates in
physical education and then became certified as a
fitness instructor. I'd worked professionally in the
fitness industry for many years and was an avid
bodybuilder. As I approached my 30's I started having
back and knee problems and had to start laying off the
weights. I was concerned that I was not going to be
able to do a lot of things (ie; hike, climb, martial
arts).

A friend turned me onto Wing Chun (kung fu) and in the
first week of training my back and knee problems
disappeared. I also was diagnosed with severe carpal
tunnel syndrome which has been healing.

Now, I'm the worlds biggest skeptic. I was amazed how
the Wing Chun approach to fitness works. A body
synergy is achieved by NOT ISOLATING body parts when
exercising. This made a lot of sense to me. Now at 42
I've not done weight lifting nor calisthenics in over
10 years and I'm in much better shape than I was in my
"prime".

Last year I returned to hiking after being away from
the trails in over ten years. I hiked the trinity alps
with a full load (85+lbs) and had no problems.

Not all Wing Chun is the same. I' became an instructor
due to not being able to find a suitable Sifu when I
relocated to Hawaii from San Francisco. For more
information on Wing Chun you can e-mail me, go to my
site or meet me on the PCT in June '05.

ps- Did I forget to mention it's also a great form of
self defense?!! Much better than a gun on the trail!
