Great Topic.  I'm getting ideas here I never thought of. (Like I made my
mind up about the Lunar Solo)

What I was told, in a way, is in some cases I'm trading one comfort for
another.
I am responsible for choosing.
A hiker, named Reader, from Vista California, who judged the gear contest
at the KickOff last year said, "What's right for me today may change next
week". 

For me, I analize like this:

Comfort of my old white gas stove vs. Comfort of a lighter pack
Comfort of dry food and less weight vs. comfort of fresh food but lots of
weight.
Comfort of one tent vs. comfort of another.
Comfort  of a tent vs comfort of tarp and less weight.
Comfort of toilet paper vs. discomfort and a lighter pack lighter pack

Comfort of a lighter pack hiking 10 hour vs. Comfort, in ounces, of ANY
item I carry including the pack itself.
