Ron exhibited one of these at the ALDHA-West gathering this last weekend and
will, I assume, also do so at the ALDHA-East gathering next weekend.
I tried to lay down in it and, damn it, it was too short! Ha! This is my
problem and not a design flaw. It does look like another innovative great design
by this Six Moons guru. It is rather pyramid shaped and should thus shed
snow well, whereas, the long low tarp-tent styles look like they would crater
under any significant snow fall (not that a thru-hiker should necessarily need a
4 season shelter, but one never knows).
Us 1977'ers boast of meeting and knowing the greats of past years like Dick
Kelty, Hap Clop (former president of the Nth Face), Yvonne Chounaird (Great
Pacific Iron Works and now Patagonia), Royal Robbins, etc. You current hikers
will later in life think back and remember that you knew and socialized with
the current greats like Ron Moak, Glen Van Peski, Henry Shires, Brian Frankle
and others.
