Hey Dude & Eric,  where have you two been all your lives ? I moved to washington state 13 years ago,where you two born then ? in Yosemite and area there has been more then 3 death charged to bears in the 60s-80s alone,after the Japan bought it,they must have destroyed the records, I ve been around for a long time,I remember when that bear got 2 girls when one of them were on there monthly,Now you might be right about a the  black bears,HOWEVER,,this is not black bear country,! they are mostly north easterly,not too long there was an article in a sports book where a man went to go commit suicide ,left a note,and all ,,,!but when they went to investigate,a black bear got to him first,this guy tryed to change his mind real bad,this man suffered,this man was frantic,they found a little less than 1/4 of his upper torso,they found marks on the ceiling,where his fingers tryed to open the ceiling to excape,yes here in the Pacific North West,we got bears,but while I was hunting in Califs Sanoras mountains,I saw lots of black bears,only I went the other direction,SO you two better do some research about bears,before you start writeing things you know nothing about, Howard L Ruiz
