I had to get off the trail near Mohave due to a knee injury. I have resupply boxes at Kennedy Meadows and VVR. Does anyone know how to get them back or what to do about them? From steve at wassermanins.com Mon Jun 7 10:29:40 2004

Subject: [pct-l] Water treatment
Message-ID: <000e01c44cac$a288d9a0$3d00a8c0@STAT019>
Recently purchased MSR MIOX water treatment device. Small, light weight,
revolutionary - uses electyrolysis to generate oxidants to kill bad
microbugs. I'd like to know if anyone has enough experience with this
device to advise: (1) will ANY rock salt approximately same grain size
work, so I don't have to resupply from MSR at outrageous price? (2) Since
it takes 4 hours to kill crypto, I'm faced with carrying double water supply
(one to drink; one being purified), or using Aquamira or iodine or bleach
for immediate use. Maybe MIOX will only be good for overnight treating,
when I won't have to be carrying large volumes that is not yet consumable.
My plan is for a 700-mile central CA PCT section hike from KM to Burney.
thx. Old Goat
