[pct-l] California Fire Permits

I asked that question of the PCTA and never got a good answer. I got mine by
mail from the BLM office in Bakersfield. No problem. Incidentally, you don't
purchase them - they are free for the asking. BLM also said my Esbit stove
did not need a campfire permit.

Wandering Bob

"I have a PCTA thruhiker permit for 2004. Does that double as a CA Campfire
Permit in all areas from Walker Pass north to Sierra City? If not, where
does it not apply?"
Their answer:

"Regarding Fire permits: they can be purchased from any BLM or USFS office.
Throughout California the current fire danger is at least at Stage 1 which
means no camp fires are allowed without a permit but stoves can be used.
Stage 2 means that you must obtain a permit to even use stoves.

Subject: [pct-l] California Fire Permits

 Hi to all,
Was there ever any concensus on the question regarding California Fire
permits? Is the PCT thru-permit a legal substitute?
