[pct-l] Re: watch with altimeter, compass, etc

I use a Suunto Vector - cost new about ?120 two/three years back (about $200
at a guess) but I wouldn't rely on any electronic compass - mine always points
south or south west, even when I'm pointing it north - it spent too long
sitting next to my electric alarm clock on my bedside table!

Altimeter accuracy is excellent though, and it also displays barometric
pressure and records those readings over several days or hours, so you can note
weather pattern changes. Altimeter is in 5m increments, though I know more recent
models go to 1m.. You do have to remember to update the altitude settings
with some regularity to maintain the accuracy of the readings.

(Hope that makes sense!)

Watch also has three alarms, altitude alarms, can read in feet or metres,
stopwatch, timer, blah blah blah. A bargain.
