There is a fine dirt road (which is, sadly, also the PCT) all the way to 
Cottonwood Creek, and then on to Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road.  I didn't know 
anything about the trough, so in 2002, on my way down to Campo, I stashed two 
gallons of water.
