[pct-l] Map question, and ice axes along the PCT

Two questions for the experts out there:

1) What is the best solution for finding/print/buying and carrying maps
along the PCT? There are numerous sources, some pricey, some
incomplete...suggestions would be highly valued.

2) Is it correct to send ice axes (for those of us who plan to use them)
to Kennedy Meadows? When is it appropriate to send winter gear? (Kennedy
Meadows also?) Also, how much past the Sierras are ice axes needed?
Oregon? Washington?
