[pct-l] favorite song

Not a favorite song, but a quote apt for this thread:

"Letting us go singing as far as we go, the way will
be less tedious." --Virgil, ECLOGUES

For what is is worth, I tend to have instrumentals
stuck in my head when hiking.

A very obvious one for me was in the more barren
sections of my time in the desert. For some odd
reason, had the theme to "Lawrence of Arabia" stuck in
my head. :-) In all seriousness when in the desert by
yourself all day and trekking in the sun, it is so
easy to hear that majestic theme. The desert, if
anything is dramatic. Nothing around you for miles,
often by yourself, harsh terrain that seems to conjure
up epic images and themes. (LoA just happens to be my
favorite movie of all time, too. If you are a movie
buff, you HAVE too see this movie on a 70mm screen.
Period.)

In the High Sierra the song most often in my head was
"Jessica" by the Allman Brothers. This instrumental so
fit my mood in the Range of Light; happy, exuberant,
being in the place I dreamed of when I knew the PCT
was going to be thru-hiked. It is was a song in my
head so much that when I did my PCT slide show, the
song was played during the High Sierra portion.

Over a ridge looking at some vast woods in Oregon or
Washington I invariably heard "The Last of the
Mohicans" theme song in my head.

If anyone is curious what songs did play during the
PCT slide show, the "soundtrack" is listed at:
