Indeed, do NOT count on any water at the San Felipe Hills' Third Gate Water 
Cache until ~ April 10. The couple of quarts you found there in January were 
placed there by a hiker for his own use within days after he placed them.

If you are a day hiker and want to hike through the San Felipe Hills before 
mid-April, start at Barrel Springs and hike SOUTH to complete the trip in one 
day ... carry your own water (2-3 liters). 

If you are NOT a day-hiker, become one for the day to complete the San Felipe 
Hills. 

Be patient, the water will come (in April).
