The tiny store at Hyatt Lake is the smallest on the trail. Literally a few
candy bars and small bottles of pop. It's only about a 10 minute walk off
the trail, and sending a drop there would lower your pack weight coming out
of Ashland.
Fish Lake is a great place. Very hiker friendly. Good diner/restaurant.
Friendly new owners who are excited about hikers. There is a side trail off
the PCT at 1775.3, which is just before Highway 140. You could walk the
side trail (about 2 miles) or hitch the highway. But if you hitch the
highway, there is still a walk down a side road about a half mile to get to
the resort.
Nice place. I'd definitely go to Fish Lake Resort again. And probably
Hyatt Lake, too.
And don't miss Elk Lake Resort at mile 1953.2. Great food there, and they
accept maildrops.
