[pct-l] Request for PCT factoids . . .

So section K in Washington has the most elevation gain? I would have guessed
from KM to Tuolumne (sp?)Meadows with all those mega passes. I'm betting the
highest 50 mile stretch is in that section

Now to e-mail Jim Gorman and ask how on earth one gets a story published
in Adventure Magazine. Got about 30 of them already written up and ready to go
-- including 6 on the PCT. Better chance than the lottery anyway and at least
I have an e-mail address.

My guesses: about 250 people started and 100 finished

370,000' of elevation gain (wonder how I came up with that number!)

At least 400 miles of wilderness in WA (most of the entire PCT) I'll let
others guess OR. and CA.

Average PCT thru hike - 150 days. My wimpy one was 180 days, but hey, I
was 52 and in no particular hurry since I leased out my house for 6 months

I think the record is around 85 days, but I can't remember who. Was Brian
Robinson for a while, wasn't it?

Finally, Mr. Gorman, tell Mr. Gonzales (another writer for Adventure Magaz
ine) that I enjoyed "Deep Wilderness" very much
