FW: [pct-l] Black Diamond Shelter

If you are looking for a lightweight tent that sets up using hiking poles, I would highly recommend the Wanderlust Nomad Lite single wall tent. It weighs in at 1 lb 11 oz and has a floor.

Mine's survived an AT thru-hike and 5 months building trails in the Stanislaus National Forest. I haven't gotten wet once. It's coming with me on my PCT thru-hike this year.

You can check out the tent at

I have used this (without a floor).

Good points: 2 lbs. and a helluva lotta room; easy set up

Bad points: nothing to keep bugs out- I've heard of some people installing a
foot-wide skirt of mesh to the bottom to take care of this, but I haven't-
If anyone can give advice on how to do this, btw, I'd be eager to hear it...

As for the attachable floor, it seems as if that would make it airtight and
would result in a lot of condensation...

Has anyone used the Black Diamond Betamid, which uses treking poles?
With or without the floor attachment? Would be interested in how this
performed as a shelter on the PCT. Hiker/Biker
