[pct-l] What to do about dogs?

OK, I've been struggling with this one last unresolved issue for a while, 
and have come up against a wall: I can't find any family/friends able to 
take in my 2 beloved dogs while I hike.

Has anyone here addressed this same sort of dilemma? Any suggestions? I 
certainly can't afford 5 months of kenneling (and it would break their 
hearts anyway...) and, unlike J. Bradley, I don't think my "kids" are 
*quite* up to it! :)

Any input appreciated...
