[pct-l] Mt. Whitney

Not having climbed Whitney, I can offer info neither on its merits nor its
failings. I can, however, suggest that if you ever get the chance, try White
Mtn. Peak, across the Owens Valley in the White Mtns. Not exactly something
you'd hop off the PCT to do, but great if your travels take you there.

Tough: no water; starts at 12000' (and you're not acclimated, since you
drove there); follows an old road for the entire 15-mi. round trip.

Rewarding: 14,200 says it all; not one other hiker during the entire day;
oldest trees in the world nearby.
